Founded in 2019, Deborah Foundation is a registered non-profit organization in Ethiopia dedicated to improving the lives of children with Down Syndrome and intellectual disabilities. Through our programs in health, education, and policy advocacy, we promote inclusion and empower families and communities to support children with special needs.


Position Overview

Deborah Foundation is seeking dynamic and compassionate Subject Teachers across multiple disciplines to join its inclusive education team. As a Subject Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that support academic achievement and personal development for all students—especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for new graduates and early-career teachers passionate about inclusive learning and child-centered teaching.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver curriculum-aligned lesson and unit plans in your subject area

  • Create engaging, differentiated learning experiences to meet diverse student needs

  • Support students with individualized instruction, modifications, and accommodations

  • Integrate multimedia tools and interactive resources such as books, music, games, and technology

  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Monitor and document student academic and behavioral progress

  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student development

  • Apply classroom management strategies and behavioral interventions in line with school policies

  • Collaborate with school staff and special education professionals to ensure holistic support

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment

  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and school activities

  • Uphold the school’s values, code of conduct, and teaching standards

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the School or Special Needs Head


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (e.g., English, Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.) or a related education field

  • No prior teaching experience required (Fresh graduates encouraged to apply)

  • Strong knowledge of subject matter and current teaching practices

  • Basic understanding of inclusive education and special needs teaching is a plus

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English and Amharic

  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and child protection
