Officer – Payment and Settlement
About the Job
The primary objective of the Officer – Payment and Settlement is to supervise and manage all payment and settlement operations, ensuring accurate cheque clearance, bulk transaction processing, and real-time gross settlement (RTGS) through the Core Banking System.
This role also fosters efficient communication with branches, Head Office units, and regulatory bodies, such as the National Bank of Ethiopia, to ensure timely inter-bank settlements, supporting the Director of Finance & Facility Management by preparing key documentation and coordinating resolution of outstanding reconciliation items.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and monitor daily cheque clearance and bulk transaction activities.
- Authorize outgoing Head Office and branch RTGS transactions through the CBS.
- Review reconciliation reports for various accounts and report to Reconciliation Manager.
- Ensure availability of sufficient funds in the payment and settlement account.
- Communicate with branches, head office, and NBE for smooth inter-bank settlements.
- Provide necessary documents to Director, Finance & Facility Management for correspondence with other banks.
- Supervise the follow-up of all outstanding reconciliation items and inter-branch accounts.
About You
- Qualification: Master’s Degree / BA Degree in Accounting, Management, Economics, or other business-related fields.
- Experience: 4/6 years of banking experience, including at least 2 years in the banking sector. Experience with Interest-Free Banking (IFB) institutions is an added advantage.
