About the SBW Berlin Scholarship
The SBW Berlin International Scholarship supports highly motivated, talented, and financially disadvantaged students who wish to study at leading universities in Berlin or Potsdam. In addition to full financial support, scholars are expected to engage in or develop non-profit projects in their home countries during or after their studies. The scholarship promotes both academic excellence and lasting social impact.
Scholarship Coverage

Full tuition fees for the entire degree program

Shared accommodation in Berlin

Monthly living allowance

Travel expenses in specific cases

Project funding for approved non-profit initiatives

Duration: up to 48 months, depending on the length of the chosen program
Required Documents
Prepare the following items for your online application:

Last degree certificate

Academic transcripts

Two recommendation letters

Motivation letter (maximum two pages)

Current CV or résumé

Proof of low household income
-
Admission letter from a Berlin or Potsdam university

Certificates of achievement (if applicable)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:

Hold citizenship of a developing or economically disadvantaged country

Be between 18 and 30 years old
-
Demonstrate academic performance equivalent to a minimum German grade of 2.0
-
Have no immediate family permanently residing in Germany
-
Show evidence of low household income
-
Not receive simultaneous funding from another German organization
The scholarship is also open to refugees, homeless foreigners, and EU long-term residence permit holders.
Scholarship Termination
Funding may be withdrawn if the scholar:

Fails or postpones three exams
-
Does not participate in or complete the agreed non-profit project
-
Fails to submit final graduation documents
