Project Background
The Seas of Change Ethiopia project is a five-year initiative that works at the intersection of regenerative agriculture (RA) and productive use of renewable energy (PURE). It promotes ecosystem restoration, increased productivity, and inclusive growth through RA practices integrated with renewable energy solutions. The project uses a hybrid implementation model to leverage local expertise and foster collaboration across stakeholders.
Purpose of the Role
The RA Advisor will be responsible for spearheading the advancement of regenerative agriculture practices within the RA-PURE nexus. This includes promoting soil health, agroecology, biodiversity, and sustainable value chains, while integrating renewable energy into farming systems. The Advisor will convene and collaborate with stakeholders including farmers, cooperatives, government bodies, the private sector, and research institutions to facilitate systemic transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Integration

Develop and execute a regenerative agriculture strategy aligned with project goals

Provide technical guidance on agroforestry, soil regeneration, water conservation, and biodiversity

Integrate renewable energy solutions into RA practices

Support business model development and financing for RA scale-up
Capacity Building & Knowledge Sharing
-
Lead training and capacity-building for project partners and stakeholders
-
Develop practical training guides, toolkits, and knowledge materials
-
Organize field visits, peer learning sessions, and workshops
-
Document and disseminate best practices and lessons learned
Market Development & Value Chain Strengthening

Analyze value chains and market dynamics for regenerative agriculture products

Facilitate connections between producers, buyers, processors, and technology providers

Support access to finance for regenerative agriculture through partnerships with financial institutions
Policy Engagement & Institutional Support

Advocate for policy frameworks that support regenerative practices
-
Facilitate collaboration among government agencies, NGOs, and communities
-
Contribute to institutional capacity building and governance improvement
Innovation & Technology Promotion

Identify and promote cutting-edge RA methods and technologies
-
Partner with agritech firms and research institutions to pilot innovations

Stay informed on regional and global RA trends
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)

Develop indicators specific to RA outcomes

Use evidence and data to adapt project strategies

Contribute to project reporting and impact tracking
Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agroecology, Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field
-
At least 10 years of experience in regenerative agriculture or sustainable land management in Ethiopia
-
Familiarity with integrating renewable energy into agriculture systems

Proven track record in capacity building, training, and stakeholder coordination

Experience in policy engagement and value chain development

Excellent facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills
