Position: Finance Officer


Major Responsibilities

Financial Accounting Operation

  • Prepare accurate and timely project financial/grant reports and submit them to the Finance Manager and other stakeholders as per WVE financial manual.
  • Ensure data quality, timely data preparation, and review for posting.
  • Handle all bank matters, including signatories, reconciliations, deposits, and balance sheet account updates.
  • Ensure timely sub-project settlement, compliance, and data submission for processing.
  • Review payroll preparation for project staff and casual workers to ensure timely payment.
  • Review and ensure timely settlement of business and travel advances.

Financial Reporting & Budgeting

  • Participate in budget preparation, cash flow analysis, and budget control with program staff.
  • Maintain monthly and annual fixed asset inventory registers and ensure timely submissions.

Financial Compliance & Risk Management

  • Coordinate pre-audit preparations and implement audit recommendations.
  • Manage cash requests to ensure sufficient monthly balances.
  • Ensure timely collection of purchased grant project items.

Stewardship Management & Resource Efficiency

  • Submit insurance data related to vehicles and motorcycles for timely annual renewals.
  • Advise project supervisors on financial and administrative issues.

About You

Required Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Accounting & Finance, preferably in an NGO setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer skills.
  • Strong commitment to World Vision’s core values.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to foster teamwork and collaboration in diverse cultural settings.
  • Experience managing projects on time and within budget.

Required Education, Training, License, and Certification

  • BA Degree in Accounting or Accounting and Finance.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Experience in humanitarian response programming is an asset.
  • Knowledge of integrated program implementation in development and emergency contexts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and office equipment operation.
  • Fluency in English and other local languages.

Travel and Work Environment

  • Office-based with frequent domestic travel within targeted woredas.
